The House is preparing to debate and vote on several changes to Biden’s domestic policy package and infrastructure bill, known as the Build Back Better bill, which includes adding work permits for undocumented immigrants.

These changes would allow seven million undocumented immigrants to apply for work permits and travel in the U.S. for five years.

Biden has set aside $100 billion to fund immigration changes in his package. With many issues on this bill, however, the funds can be transferred to another cause if not accepted by the Senate in their upcoming vote.

There has been a lot of debate of the immigration additions to this bill for months even among Democrats.

With a variety of suggestions on how best to distribute funds, some are concerned they will move too far away from Republican support while others fear the proposed changes won’t do enough.

A vote will take place in the next coming days.
