Immigration Not Included on Biden’s Build Back Better bill

Democrats’ third attempt to add immigration provisions to the Build Back Better bill was deemed ineligible.
The immigration measures included provisional work permits, which the parliamentarian, a consultant on parliamentary procedure, had previously rejected in Democrats’ first two attempts.
Some Democrats have expressed they will continue to vote to the parliamentarian’s advice. With fear of losing those Democrats’ vote, Biden decided against adding the immigration measures to the bill.
When asked if Democrats would try for a fourth time to add immigration provisions to the bill, Senator Dick Durbin, said “No, not at this point.”
However, he said they would continue to fight for them in the future.
The bill will include paid family and medical leave, state and local tax deductions and Medicare benefits.
